It also has since been converted to a historic site and the house played an interesting role in the history of the revolutionary war. Come to Montauk Point Lighthouse Museum to see on full display the oldest of New York State’s lighthouses. The second congress of the United States authorized the building of the lighthouse under the political reign of none other than George Washington, in the year of 1792. Completed in 1976, the lighthouse towers over 100 feet tall and remains to this day an essentiality of oceanic navigation along the eastern seaboard.

In Hudson Valley
